Hub Motor Systems
- Assist Issues
- Throttle doesn’t activate.
- Ensure e-brake cutoff isn’t activated. You’ll see a “>O<” symbol on your display if it is.
- If using an e-brake sensor make sure the magnet is properly placed.
- Check throttle connector pins.
- PAS doesn’t activate.
- Check magnet disc orientation and alignment with the sensor head.
- Check for damage on the sensor head or missing magnets on the disc.
- Check connector pins.
- Error Codes
- “Throttle Fault” or “01_Error”
- Check the throttle’s yellow connector pin condition.
- Check controller to component connector pin condition.
- “Motor Position Sensor Failure” or “03_Error”
- Motor wire is unplugged or damaged.
- Controller failure.
- Hub motor failure
- Internal sensor failure.
- Damaged wiring externally or internally.
- Display Issues
- Display won’t turn on.
- Check if the battery is powered on and has voltage at the terminals.
- Check display connector pins.
- Check wiring harness/controller connector pins.
- Speedometer jumps erratically
- Change P2 setting to 5 or 6 depending on motor generation.
- Hub Motor Issues
- Freewheel isn’t spinning.
- Freewheel may be binding against the hub motor shell. Add freewheel spacers as needed.
- Disc brake rotor doesn’t line up with brake caliper
- Check axle hardware configuration chart to ensure proper rotor alignment. Add/remove spacers as needed.
- Make sure the plastic spacer is removed when installing a brake rotor.
- Hub motor is loud.
- Check for damage to the motor wire.
- Ensure the connector is seated completely.
- Open the motor shell and check for damage to gearing. Redistribute or reapply grease to the gears.
- Use white or black lithium grease.
Mountaineer Mid-Drive Kit
- Display Issues
- Display won’t turn on.
- Check if the battery is powered on and has voltage at the terminals.
- Check display connector pins.
- Speedometer reading is incorrect.
- Check the wheel magnet alignment and spacing. If the magnet is too close or too far the speedometer will not register correctly.
- Check the settings to ensure the correct wheel size is selected in the display setting.
- Assist Issues
- Pedal assist won’t activate.
- Make sure the e-brake levers aren’t activated.
- Restart the system with zero pressure on the pedals.
- Mid-Drive Motor Issues
- Grinding Noise
- Internal gear replacement may be needed.
- Motor is operational but noisy.
- Inspect motor internals, clean and regrease gears as needed.
Battery Issues
Battery won’t charge.
Check the internally accessible fuse and replace if necessary.
If the fuse is still good the BMS board may need replacement. Contact EBO or a qualified battery technician for repair.
